We Say

For general detailing duties, the Gyeon PRISM Mini is the only hand-held work light you'll ever need. Larger than penlights, and thus more powerful with a far better battery life, yet much smaller than other hand-held work lights, and thus less expensive but equally as capable, the Gyeon PRISM Mini ticks all the right boxes for enthusiasts and professional detailers alike. For starters, the powerful COB LED features two illumination modes and two calibrated colour temperature modes (4500 K and 6500 K, optimised for lighter and darker finishes respectively), which combine to enable the full gamut of common paint defects to be easily spotted during the paint inspection process. And when ambient light levels are low, as is often the case in garages and workshops, the Gyeon PRISM Mini provides abundant illumination for interior work, and for cleaning duties under the car and in the wheel arches and engine bay. Then there's the ergonomics. The Gyeon Prism Mini is only slightly bigger than your average smartphone, and its built-in magnet and tilting head (more than 180°) opens up all sorts of possibilities in terms of attaching it to panels for hands-free illumination as you work; we routinely find ourselves mounting it in door shuts and on the underside of bonnets as we work. And finally, there's the outstanding build quality. The Gyeon PRISM Mini is both shock resistant and completely dust and waterproof, and comes with a two year warranty.

Description

Developed in collaboration with SCANGRIP, the market leader in professional automotive lighting solutions, the Gyeon PRISM Mini is a powerful rechargeable hand-held work light that makes defect spotting incredibly easy. The patented design uses an extremely bright COB LED that outputs up to 200 lumens of either warm white light or cold white light (selectable colour temperatures of 4500 K and 6500 K, with full spectrum CRI+ values of more than 96%) and features two button-activated modes of operation; step 1, which deploys 50% of maximum illuminance (approximately 250 lux at 50 cm), and step 2, which deploys 100% of maximum illuminance (approximately 500 lux at 50 cm). The COB LED technology produces completely uniform and even illumination, which makes it ideal for detailing purposes, and the solvent resistant glass lens can be easily removed for cleaning. The Gyeon PRISM Mini is powered by an internal 3.7 V 1600 mAh Li-ion battery. A fully charged battery enables up to 4 hours of continuous operation in the step 1 mode (or 2 hours in the step 2 mode), and recharging usually takes around 4 hours using the supplied USB charging cable. For maximum flexibility, the Gyeon PRISM Mini also features a powerful built-in magnet, a sturdy rotatable hook and a tilting head; these features enable it to be used hands-free with ease. Each Gyeon PRISM Mini comes supplied with a USB charging cable, an instruction manual and a two year return to base warranty.

How To Use

Before using the Gyeon PRISM Mini for the first time, charge the internal 3.7 V 1600 mAh Li-ion battery fully using the supplied USB charging cable. Full charge is achieved when all four battery status indicators on the front of the work light turn green; this usually takes less than an hour from new, as the Gyeon PRISM Mini is supplied partially charged. In future, recharge the Gyeon PRISM Mini as and when required; this typically takes around 4 hours from a flat state. Please note that you should never store the Gyeon PRISM Mini with a flat battery, as it could become over-discharged and impossible to reuse. In line with this, if you don't intend to use your Gyeon PRISM Mini for a long period of time (i.e. several months or more), make sure you recharge it fully every 30 days or so, to ensure that the battery remains in good condition. On a more general note, use the step 1 mode for general defect spotting and inspection duties, and the step 2 mode for checking correction work (we also recommend alternating between the two different colour temperatures when checking paint correction work, as they highlight paint defects differently depending on the colour of the finish). You will find it easier to spot defects (particularly marring and holograms) if you stand back slightly and sweep the beam over the bodywork from a distance of 50 - 100 cm.
